That viral presentation a student made for her 'crush' is just a joke. Here's the evidence.

A BuzzFeed article entitled “This Girl Sent Her Crush A Presentation On Why He Should Date Her And He Actually Replied” detailed the slideshow a University of Minnesota student named Lizzy Fenton posted on Twitter. BuzzFeed reported that it was directed at “her crush, Carter,” identified as Carter Blochwitz, as an effort to convince him to date her.

Microsoft even tweeted their encouragement.

BuzzFeed went into detail about the charming parts of the presentation, which went viral on Twitter — as well as Carter’s apparent response.

Numerous other news outlets have covered Fenton’s apparent efforts to win over the object of her affection, including HuffPost, People and the Daily Mail. 50 Cent even felt the need to comment about her on Facebook.

But a look at Fenton’s and Blochwitz’s social media accounts strongly suggest that the presentation is just a joke and that the two know each other very well.

Let’s start with the fact that Blochwitz and Fenton are friends on Facebook. He posted a photo of the two of them together in January.

Two months ago, she appeared in a video he posted on Vimeo.

They go back further.

Fenton tweeted this photo of Blochwitz last October.

And Blochwitz posted these photos of her on Instagram last September and October.

In fact, this photo of Fenton is the first pic Blochwitz ever posted on this Instagram account.

So, yeah, the presentation is funny, but that’s about it. Sorry, internet, but it doesn’t look like there’s a crush to win over or a guy blowing off a lovelorn girl.

By the way, we’re not the only ones who quickly realized the effort to reach a crush was just a silly hoax. Blochwitz even seemed to confirm the joke on Twitter.

People asked Fenton whether they were together or what, and Fenton coyly replied, “Carter and I get along swimmingly. He was amused by the PowerPoint, as he should be. Regarding if we are dating — a lady never tells. I won’t divulge any details, but rather leave it up to the imagination.”
